Now this is going to sound odd but I love turkey leftover recipes that I make a TON of tempting appetizers and side dishes just so people get full fast and leave my dang turkey alone.. that way I can think of something fun to do with that turkey and serve it to you the next few nights!!
Tonight I served my Handsome Husband this delightful treat!! It was a big hit at our home. In fact I took a big pot over to one of our recipe taster’s house too. This is nice cause with just three to four cups of chopped turkey you can get a pot of soup that will feed 8 to 10!!
I love turkey and it’s on sale big time right now!! I am buying them and cooking them just to freeze the cooked meat. This makes it a lot easier to store once cooked and the cooked meat makes great fast meals!! At 0.79 cents per pound how can you go wrong??
One thing that I just adore is leftover recipes. Although I have many leftover recipes on this site, right now I am focused on the gobbler. By day three reheating the leftovers is not appealing to everybody so here is a great idea of what to do with them to mix it up a bit!!
I really enjoyed this recipe but when buying the gluten free BBQ sauce you can always use your favorite but I do recommend not using the sweeter ones like the honey or brown sugar sauces… but even if you do this easy recipe sure is tasty.
Keep in mind… this leftover recipe can be made in the morning or night before and then popped into the oven at dinner time.
Your leftover turkey takes one a whole new life with this recipe!!
Did you know that dishes made with mashing potatoes together date back to the mid 1700s??
No wonder it is one of my favorite comfort foods!!
Mashed potatoes are like magic… they can make a cold day warm. What would shepherd’s pie be without mashed potatoes? Mashed potatoes are even used in making pasta and candy!!
I am always trying to think of new reasons to serve them. Ever since my Handsome Husband introduced me to the “mashed potato bowl” concept I have been on a roll.
My latest in the mashed potato bowl series in my home is today’s recipe BBQ Chicken Mashed Potato Bowls. After all, I have confessed to you all many a times how I adore BBQ. That sauce in itself is pretty magical. So why not combine two of my favorites!!??
Why not indeed!
What to you want to bet that Handsome Hubby is going to end up regretting introducing me to the mashed potato bowl concept?? Continue reading →
It’s the start of the “pumpkin spiced season” and I am out!! I am way to lazy today to get in the car and drive to the grocery store and get some more…. OkI will admit it here to you now… I am also way too cheap to buy it. It might be one of my biggest kitchen secrets over the past few years… I have been making on my own and refilling the store bought jar in my spice rack.
Ok… I admitted my dirty little secret to you and now I am suggesting you do the same thing.. think of it this way… they always telling us to use fresh spices in your cooking and baking and YET there are just not that many recipes I make using cloves, ginger, and allspice. So if I didn’t use these spices to make my own pumpkin pie spice, which I use ALLLLLL the time, these spices would be in my spice rack for years and either I would be using old spices or I would be replacing them every year without using them up… and either way it would be a shame!!
Now, of course, if you want to continue to to buy your pumpkin spice that works too!! I am all about enjoying the pumpkin spice season… that is what is important here.. I just want you to know you have options!! Continue reading →
Whenever I see ribs on sale it’s all I can do not to load my freezer up on them. I know that for most people ribs are a summer treat. However, for me it is a year round culinary delight!!
The one “problem” with ribs is that when it is just Handsome Husband and me for dinner, we always end up with leftover ribs. I also know so many people who have had a backyard bbq and they over planned the food and had leftover ribs. Worry not… Just toss those ribs into the freezer and in a few weeks or months when you are craving the bbq craving… you can have it again, but with a twist!!
Well today I am going to share with you a yummy idea to do with leftover ribs…. making them into a mashed potato bowl!! I served mine with cooked carrots, but trust me… any veggie you like will be great. The funny thing is… the inspiration for this dinner was something I saw served at a county fair. They served theirs to look like an ice cream sundae, but it was a meat sundae.
I am always trying not to waste delicious leftovers and this is a new and exciting way to make sure one of my favorites is utilized to its fullest potential!!
