Today I am speaking to all of my fellow salmon lovers. I do not happen to be married to one but I know there are people out there like me that enjoy salmon immensely!! Every time my husband has to go out of town for business I hightail my tush over to the fish counter and buy myself some salmon… a lot of it!! I could literally eat it 4 times a week, and the last time he was on a business trip… I DID!! Including for breakfast on several of those days!! YA thats right… I am hardcore that way!!
In fact, the last trip he went on he told me a co-worker wanted to go out to dinner at a restaurant that had “the best salmon chowder he had ever had” my first question was… “did you tell him how much you dislike salmon??” Of course he didn’t, because he had hopes that if they had incredible salmon chowder they would have equally incredible clam chowder. He was wrong. OHHHHHH how I laughed!! (and I laughed over and over for the entire day and then chuckled to myself for probably close to two more days after that) Of course, he did not have the salmon chowder but it got me thinking because as much as I love salmon, I have never had salmon chowder. So I looked around the house and figured since I have some cooked salmon and the basics for a chowder I would give it a shot.
I enjoyed the chowder and so did my soup lov’n buddy The Fabulous Mrs. T. So today I get to share the salmon creation that is dedicated to the man who despises salmon. Of course I will never know how it compares to that “best salmon chowder” that hubby didn’t try, but I do believe it could give it a run for the title!! Click here for Recipe….
Now under normal circumstances Handsome Hubby and I would not eat dinosaur shaped foods. We do not have little ones that would want them and I am kinda creeped out by foods shaped as anything. BUT… with that said, I know that we have a lot of readers who need products like this… they have gluten free kids and kids want fun shaped food and cool things to eat. So when I saw this gluten free product I knew I needed to try this for our readers.
Let’s start off with the meal. We ate these for dinner with some veggies and such. They are easy to make in the toaster oven and they had great flavor!! The texture right out of the oven was not quite as crispy as I like but what is interesting is that if I let them sit for a moment they got a bit crisper. I don’t know if it’s dinosaur magic but I was surprised when both Handsome Hubby and I liked them.
And I admit… although this is not a product normally on my culinary radar… they were really cute!! I could see kids just loving these fun shapes!! And I am going to admit, for a split second I considered grabbing one with my fingers and making dinosaur roars. And then I put my wine down and switched back to water.
Now let’s get down the the info Mom wants!! I am really impressed with this Wellshire Kids because the chickens are fed a vegetarian diet and never administered antibiotics!! Score!!
Not only are they Gluten Free, they are Egg Free and Milk Free!! They also have No Preservatives and No MSG!!
Not only do I recommend this product but I suggest checking out their website for further information!!
Gluten Free Shredded Pork Chili on Cornbread Waffles
This is another recipe in our Slow Cooker Shredded Pork Roast Recipe Series!!
This is a great plan ahead meal. Say you have friends or family coming over this is a go to recipe because this one needs to be started the day before!! The flavors of the chili just get better and better overnight!!
In addition, being able to make a cost effective gluten free meal is always a hit with me. Make the crock pot pork roast then use the entire thing in many different meals. (click HERE for pork roast recipeI like to make a ton and then put them into freezer bags and then pull it out for hits like this recipe!! It’s amazing how you can get the roast on sale and make so many meals!! However, keep in mind that this recipe uses the most pork out of any that I have posted because this feeds a crowd. Ten servings!! What a steal!!
Recently I reviewed Immaculate Double Chocolate Gluten Free Cookie Mix (click HERE to read the review). I really enjoyed the double chocolate cookies so I was really eager to try the chocolate chip.
I must admit, the double chocolate is WAY better. I am not saying that the chocolate chip isn’t good but this its just not nearly as good as the double chocolate. This is a convenient mix that can be stored in your pantry so I definitely like that aspect of it beause it’s nice to have a gluten free mix that can be mixed in a few minutes and cookies. It is also convenient to have a gluten free mix that is sold at my local Walmart so that is a plus as well.
Immaculate Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix
There is not a lot of information regarding their gluten free line on their website but on their box it says “We’d love to hear from you! 1800-243-6419 www.immaculatebaking.com” So for further information regarding their gluten free facility or their standards so I highly encourage you to contact them with any of your questions.
I really enjoyed their Double Chocolate Gluten Free Cookie Mix and this Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix we pretty good as well. Please check them out….
Okay… before you even say it I want you to know that I acknowledge that today’s recipe isn’t the “greatest” It’s not earth shattering and it’s not going to break new ground in the culinary world. BUT sometimes we get into ruts. Occasionally, we forget about old favorites because we haven’t had them in so long. Once in awhile it’s nice to see that dinner doesn’t have to be a 4 course affair. And every so often it’s nice to see a new lunch item we can pack in our lunch before heading off to work or school.
With all that being said… Let me reintroduce you to an old family friend… The Chicken Club Wrap. The other day I make some Roasted Chicken Breast (click HERE for the recipe). I made extras so that I would have plenty of chicken to work with. And since one chicken breast can made probably 4 to 6 wraps I knew that I would get a lot of bang for my buck with this one!! Now I admit, the day I made the chicken I knew that this was in the forecast, so I ate the crispy skin while it was hot out of the oven and yes, I did feel a little guilty for my culinary indulgence. (ohhhhh but it was sooooooooooooooooo good). Besides, you just need the chicken not the skin for this recipe so let’s just chalk that one up to not wanting to waste.
Leftovers taste great with handy recipes like this!! And with leftover chicken recipes like this one your will want to make extra chicken all the time!! So I hope you make some roasted chicken breast and then some wraps… cause they are like old friends I have been missing those but now I can enjoy because there are finally some good gluten free flour tortillas on the market.
