Gluten Free Product Review – Feel Good Foods Mu Shu Chicken Stir Fry Chicken and Vegetables with Mandarin Pancakes and Dipping Sauce

Feel Good Foods is a FANTASTIC gluten free food producer.  I loved their background story… The owners met back in 2004 when they worked at a restaurant together, one being gluten free and not eating at the establishment the other deciding to try and make gluten free foods for her to enjoy.  They fell in love and then opened a restaurant with their gluten free foods.  Taking the “show on the road” they started to make their products to sell and they were of course a HUGE HIT!  Now that is not their exact wording but their story is on the website and I encourage you to check it out… very sweet, romantic and Gluten Free!!

I have found that doing product reviews for this site has been “interesting”  when I taste things that I had prior to being gluten free my instincts is to judge it based off of the gluten filled item I had in the past, which isn’t always fair to the product.  If I try something I had never had, I find it hard to know if it compares to the gluten counterpart, which isn’t always fair to the product either.  Todays taste test is for a Mu Shu Chicken Stir Fry that is served in tiny little “pancakes” with a sauce on it.  I think this was a challenge because I had never had anything like this before and can’t really tell you if it taste like the “real deal”  But I cant tell you what I thought.

Being a fan of Feel Good Foods products I went in this with high expectations.  I must admit that although I really enjoyed the chicken stir fry and the sauce, the pancakes were a little disappointing.  I followed the directions on the back of the package, without using the microwave.  I ended up eating every bite of the filling and sauce and would even love that served over rice.  Yes, I would purchase this product again!!  For sure!!  I will just eating it right out of the bowl with the sauce and skip the “pancakes.”  I have a feeling when freshly made these pancakes are a hit, but they loose something in the freezing process…  However, I think it’s important to note that I enjoyed this product so much that I even found myself looking for this product again just a few days later but the particular store I was at did not have this selection, but it did have some of their other products.  So keep an eye out for future reviews of the Food Good Food product line.

Check out their website and follow them on social media like I do!!!

Gluten Free Cheese Fondue Recipe

Gluten Free Cheese Fondue

Gluten Free Cheese Fondue

Lately, Handsome Husband has been traveling a lot for business.  So not only does that mean he has to be away from home a lot but he works so hard that I really wanted to make a special dinner for him.

Fondue is our favorite romantic meal.  We can spend dinner talking and laughing and essentially playing with food.  It’s a lot of fun and I highly recommend it.  It’s easy enough to have any day but unique enough to save for a special occasion.  One of these days I will invite people over and have cheese fondue as an appetizer.

How can you go wrong with crusty bread, apples and veggies dipped in hot gooey cheese??  You can’t!!  You are going to love this!!

Gluten Free Product Review – La Choy Sweet & Sour Duck Sauce

La Choy Sweet & Sour Duck Sauce

La Choy Sweet & Sour Duck Sauce

La Choy Sweet & Sour Duck Sauce

La Choy Sweet & Sour Duck Sauce

Okay let me straight up… I bought this thinking… sweet and sour sauce.  I have no idea what duck sauce is and what you are going to do with it.

I wanted to try out some of La Choy’s Gluten Free Sauces and thought this would make a great dipping sauce. It was tasty and VERY convenient but I do prefer a more traditional sweet and sour sauce.  Next time i will make will my own, its pretty easy… but not nearly as convenient.  (click HERE for recipe)

I recently did a review of another La Choy sauce (click HERE for Teriyaki sauce review) and i enjoyed that one more.  Would I buy this again.. most likely because of its convenience.  Maybe I will research duck sauce itself and find out what it is used for and make something with it instead of using it as a dipping sauce.  But its always nice to have GF dipping sauce options!!

Gluten Free Brazilian Ham and Bean Soup Recipe

Gluten Free Brazilian Ham and Bean Soup

Gluten Free Brazilian Ham and Bean Soup

I met a beautiful almost 90 year old woman while waiting to see my doctor.  I will call her “Ann” because I forgot to ask her about her name.  We started to chat about the magazines in the waiting room.  I always love to look at the food section and it turns out Ann enjoys the health and fitness.  She told me that although she doesn’t do any of the exercises that she sees she has her own routine for staying young.  One of which was a little wine, a little sweets and lots of good home cooking.  She says she doesn’t eat out often and it’s a nice treat when she does but she enjoyed cooking for her husband, before he passed.  Ann told me one of her favorite dishes to make was Brazilian Ham and Bean Soup.  She describe it to me so beautifully and I literally took notes, but she just made it from her heart, not a recipe.

I sure hope I can see Ann again in the waiting room of a future doctors appointment so that I can tell her that I made the soup she described and that I enjoyed it so much!!  I hope you give it a try and enjoy it as much as I did!!

Fast and Easy Gluten Free Sloppy Joes Recipe

Fast and Easy Gluten Free Sloppy Joes

I think it’s interesting how as a kid we could hate something that our adult palates enjoy.  Sloppy Joes are one of those for me.  As a kid, I DREADED sloppy joe night.  Now , as an adult, I truly enjoy this fast, easy and tasty meal.

Leftovers are always easy too!!!  So even though there are just two of us now I like to make a full batch.. It freezes well and / or makes for easy heating up the next day.

The beauty of this recipe is that it can be “jazzed” up as you please… adding heat, or sweet or veggies.. The possibilities are amazing!!  I even know someone who adds veggie puree in it so that her kids don’t know and she smiles as they are “eating their veggies”

I hope you enjoy this family friendly meal as much as I do… it’s one of those quick and easy go to recipes that make you toss out the pre-made sauce and mixes because you can whip this together so fast!!
