It’s the time of year that we make and share decadent treats!! This year I am sharing this fantabulous Holiday Fudge Recipe!! I took it over to a friends house and she loved it. Even though she admits that fudge is usually too sweet for her.. this fantastic fudge has a sweet and salty aspect to it that really will please fudge and non fudge lovers alike!!
So if you see a box of this at your doorstop this holiday.. it probably wasn’t me, but it was someone like me who loves to share festive treats!! Click here for Recipe…..
Many years ago I had a tradition of making gingerbread every year for Christmas. However this is the first year I have made it since being gluten free. I don’t know about you but sometimes I am hesitant to bring out my old recipes because I am worried that making them gluten free will not be the same.
I was very pleased how this recipe came out. I just wish I had brought this out of Gluten Free Retirement sooner!!
This is a nice and moist cake and it does not overpower you with the gingerbread flavor. Yet it’s definitely a holiday taste. But I have to admit, the part of this cake that takes it home for me is the spiced frosting. I know a lot of people don’t frost their gingerbread, but for me it’s just the icing on the cake… literally!!
One of the first signs of the holidays for me is when I see the eggnog in the grocery stores. I have not always been a fan of the eggnog because it sounded pretty nasty. Let’s call it for what it is… The name stinks. At the very least it lacks from good PR. Well about 10 years ago I was at a holiday party and someone handed me a glass of the infamous nog and I was hesitant to try but ohhh I am so glad I did. That party changed the season for me.
Well I have enjoyed my fair share of eggnog this season but I thought… why not make it into an easy dessert? Now I have made this with and without the rum / rum extract. Both are good but even without the rum/extract all together this is a delicious pie!!
So I hope you enjoy this yummy pie as much as I do. Drop me an email and let me know what you think!! Click here for Recipe….
I am woman enough to admit it… I suck at decorating baked goods. Oh I try to hide it in the photos but let’s face it.
So the most obvious decorating nightmare for me is the beautiful traditional gingerbread men. I have tried and tried and tried to decorate these cookies year after year after year… and I always end up licking the frosting off in frustration right before I jam a gingerbread man into my face.
This happens every year. Every year I am a complete failure and I end up serving undecorated gingerbread men!! This has been my favorite recipe for years and years. These delightful cookies, decorated, were brought to a company potluck at work. I fell in love with the cookies upon first bite. I may not remember the name of the lady who brought them and yet I never forgot her cookies. To this day they have become a tradition in my home around the holidays.
My friend Ava’s Beautiful Decorating Job!!
Of course after going gluten free my recipe had to be tweaked a bit to make them gluten free but with Cup4Cup they were easily transformed. Now I get to share this gluten free delight with many of my gluten free friends this time of the year. In fact, I have many gluten free friends who have little ones that I enjoy taking the undecorated cookies to their home and the kids have a blast decorating them and getting to enjoy a gluten free treat!!! Now of course, I am essentially making a culinary confusion here because they think that I am bringing the cookies over for the kids to decorate… and I am, but now they will know that I am a failure when it comes to icing and decorating.
Now you might think it would be bothersome to admit such a lack of talent … but it’s not!! I am eager to share my recipe because I want others to know that it’s not uncommon and that what is important is the fun and the memories you create in your kitchen!! Those will last a lifetime, these tasty cookies will only last day… maybe even less!!
I recently learned that the Honeybaked ham store has a restaurant in their store. Now I have not eaten at the restaurant but because they make a ton of sandwiches they go through a lot of ham. Because they go through a lot of ham a few times a week they sell their ham bones.
Ham is a “hot button” topic to some gluten free people. I have always purchased hams that said gluten free on them. However, ever time I post a ham recipe I get some form of feedback about the safety of ham. So I contacted Honeybaked Ham Store and a district manager got back to me. He explained that they are gluten free hams and that several of their other products are also gluten free. I specifically asked him about some and he volunteered others… He openly reviewed many of their products with me and what is gluten free and what is not. I encourage everybody to speak to their store manager and make their own informed decisions.
After my lovely conversation with the Honeybaked Ham representative I contacted my local store and found out what days they put out their ham bones, because it’s only certain days that they do. I went down as soon as I could and picked up a bone and a pack of their Honeybaked White Bean Home Style Soup Mix.
Talk about an easy dinner!! I made the soup per the packaged directions and I gotta say it couldn’t be any easier. But what was more amazing than how easy it was to make was how incredibly amazing it made my house smell. Holy Smokes!! The smell was so amazing that I was almost intoxicated with the smell of this soup. I couldn’t tell you how many times I told Handsome Husband how much I loved the smell of this soup because I lost count after the first couple dozen times!! But let’s be real, it doesn’t matter how good it smells it all boils down to taste.. well that was equally fantastic!!
The soup was crazy easy, sensationally aromatic, and incredibly tasty!!
